Celebrating another award, Nokia Siemens Networks’ factory in Chennai, India received the Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award in the category of ‘Large Scale Manufacturing Industry’. These awards are presented annually by the Bureau of Indian Standards to encourage manufacturing and service organizations to strive for excellence and to recognize chosen leaders of the quality movement in India. The award winners and recipients of commendation certificates were selected from various industrial areas following rigorous evaluation by qualified professionals from different spheres of intellectual activity. The selection criteria focused on nine parameters: leadership quality; policies, objectives and strategies; human resource management; resources; processes; customer-focused results; employee satisfaction; impact on environment and society and business results.
The official award ceremony, held on 26 April, 2013 in New Delhi, India, was attended by the director general and senior members of the Bureau of Indian Standards as well as executives from India’s top manufacturing and service sectors. Sandeep Girotra, head of India region, and Satendra Singh, head of Manufacturing Operations, India, received the award on behalf of Nokia Siemens Networks.
