An update from our team working on disaster response:
We have been busy again with disaster relief actions after the devastating earthquake in Chile. First actions – following our process – is to ensure that our local employees are safe. So far, we have thankfully managed to locate the vast majority of them. We’re hoping that the rest can be contacted as soon as telco lines are working again. Also, it seems our Santiago offices have been spared any damage.
Immediately after the earthquake we received requests and offered our help to our local customers Claro and Movistar to send in some installation teams to help repair damaged sites. Initial assessments indicate that the main issues affecting the working of the networks is lack of electricity and access rather than actual damage to the network elements. We will be sending in our teams as soon as physical access to sites becomes possible.
Our focus will be on helping our customers resume service that will help also in the rescue, relief and reconstruction work. We have also made a donation to the International Red Cross disaster relief fund and hope you do the same – both for Chile and the on-going efforts in Haiti.
