Nokia Siemens Networks in partnership with Capgemini has won top honors at the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2012 in the ‘Hi Tech, Communications & Electronics’ category.
Established in 1997, the initiative recognizes organizations in Europe that demonstrate excellence in their supply chain operations. Nokia Siemens Networks has been awarded for its comprehensive transformation project involving the company’s supply chain management processes and organization. A rigorous approach for harmonize regional structures, improve global process performance and achieve significant cost savings.
Given the strong market pressure and fierce competition within the telecommunications industry, Nokia Siemens Networks identified the need to speed up the pace of innovation and create radical business models to stay ahead of the game –adopting a ‘transformational outsourcing’ program. Over the last three years, the company standardized, centralized and transformed end-to-end processes, impacting global operations. Moreover, complex and business essential processes have been outsourced to an external business partner (CapGemini). As a result, Nokia Siemens Networks strongly improved supply chain performance and customer satisfaction, while realizing important gains.
The partnership between Nokia Siemens Networks and CapGemini is well underway – whit more than 30 elaborate business transactions being processed every minute and over 300 innovation ideas resulting from the joint program.
The judges of the European Supply Chain Excellence Awards were impressed by the scale of the transformational change and how well prepared and executed the project was, having little to no impact to the business and yet bringing considerable benefits.
The European Supply Chain Excellence Awards are organized by Supply Chain Standard in partnership with PwC. They are renowned for the strictness of the judging process, and aim to recognize outstanding achievement in supply chain management across Europe and rewarding companies who have achieved the highest standards. The 2012 edition attracted more entries than ever before, with over 50 outstanding entries reaching the final stage. The trophy was presented at a special awards ceremony in the London Hilton (Park Lane), hosted by the comedian Ed Byrne.
