On the main road (located within the fair ground), Nokia Siemens Networks placed a truck showing the new technology LTE. LTE means Long Term Evolution, which is mainly for mobile networks. It will be standardized later this year. LTE offers even a lot more bandwidth than nowadays technologies like UMTS and HSPA. While UMTS and HSPA uses the same hardware (on the providers side), LTE is the next step offering speed around 30 MBit/s. It will be available around 2010. Nokia Siemens Networks is already showing its LTE solution on the Barcelona Congress. LTE offers a flat IP structure. It offers cost reduction in aquisition and operation due to higher integration and minimization of the network components.
