The Shanghai World Expo 2010 has drawn a lot of attention since its commencement on May 1. The event is expected to draw participation from more than 190 countries, with most of our key customers visiting. This makes for a very strong captive audience for Nokia Siemens Networks, something that we are leveraging optimally by organizing a series of customer, media and partner events as well as demonstrations of cutting edge solutions in end-to-end TDD LTE, 3 Net Convergence Triple Screen TV play, Machine to Machine (M2M) applications as well as Green Solutions catering for the low carbon society.
May 17th, World Telecom Day: Nokia Siemens Networks started its journey at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 at the Finland Pavilion with the theme “Inspire for better.”
The day started with Rajeev Suri, CEO, NSN, delivering a speech at the TD Industry Alliance (TDIA) forum. Together with the Executive Board members, Rajeev joined the press conference and the analyst meet held in the afternoon. He reinforced the company’s strong commitment to China and the telecommunications industry at large.

An event organized by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). Held at the United Nation’s (UN) Pavilion at the World Expo, the forum was titled “Better City, Better Life with ICTs.” “With TD-SCDMA technology, China joined the 3G league. Now with TD-LTE, China is already on its path towards 4G,” said Rajeev. “TD-LTE has become an important international standard which could soon be deployed in the US, India and Europe. With its origins and roots in China, TD-LTE is indeed a global innovation.”
Company strengthens commitment to China
China is a key strategic market for Nokia Siemens Networks. Already more than 10 % of our global work force is based in the country across nine locations. Even more importantly, 6 global Research and Development Centers are located in China bringing innovations to our Chinese and global customers. Rajeev Suri, CEO of Nokia Siemens Networks, together with Jürgen Walter, Head of Business Solutions (BSO) and Marc Rouanne, Head of Network Systems (NWS) shared our strategy and business updates during a Press Conference at the Shanghai World Expo. Rajeev highlighted the company’s role in achieving technology breakthroughs to deliver an improved experience to end-users, customers and partners. He announced that we are establishing its Global Purchasing center in China. He also announced that we will demonstrate 112MbpsHSPA demo for the upcoming customer events at the Finland Pavilion as well as showcase an eCoupon application usage for the end-users.

At the customer events attended by hundreds of our customers in the region, Nokia Siemens Networks shared our latest market strategy with a special focus on transformation to better support China customers. The company has been focusing on ways in which we have been a key enabler of innovation and inspiration in the field of Information and Communication Technology for China.
