Nokia Siemens Networks is very excited about the FCC’s decision on Wednesday to continue its enthusiastic support of LightSquared’s vision of blanketing the country with a new integrated LTE-satellite mobile broadband network. As LightSquared’s technology partner, we are committed to helping deliver a state-of-the-art mobile experience for the wide variety of customers that will come to rely on its network. The market demand for capacity is insatiable and LightSquared’s wholesale business model is bringing a unique approach to the table.
In his State of the Union Address Tuesday night, President Obama committed to making it possible for businesses to deploy high-speed wireless communications to 98% of all Americans within the next five years. Clearly, LightSquared will be a significant contributor to making this vision a reality.
We are in the midst of a mobile Internet revolution that fundamentally is changing the lives of all Americans. As a nation, our investments in mobile broadband networks are launching new business models, creating new and better jobs, expanding educational tools, improving healthcare, and enabling anywhere access to information. As the President indicated, it also promises to equip our nation’s public safety officers and first responders with the modern digital tools necessary to protect the safety and security of the American people.
