4G broadband technologies such as LTE enable users to surf the Internet while accessing applications. All this happens at unprecedented speed, guaranteeing a great user experience. However, when you are sitting in a cabin at 9.000 feet on top of a glacier – as recently happened to me – it becomes clear that you can’t even access GSM if you don’t have the right data device at hand. This experience showed me that devices are crucial to underserved regions – as well as bustling metropolitan areas.
Hence, I announce with great pleasure that Nokia Siemens Networks is introducing five new 4G devices to its data device portfolio at Mobile World Congress 2012. What is so special about these devices? Usually third parties build end-user devices. Nokia Siemens Networks instead offers operators, in a B2B approach, telecommunications networks and devices out of one hand – and can assure that the integration between both is seamless. Our devices support a variety of bands such as LTE, HSPA+, and GSM, accelerating the introduction of LTE and other advanced services. This means that operators can roll out new services faster and subscribers have a better experience when using their smartphone.
Following an overview of the devices we are launching: The USB-lte 7410 and the MHR-lte 7410 are already available, the other devices are available for customer trials and demos with volume by the end of the second quarter 2012.
USB devices – these can be connected to a laptop or desktop computer and can be used indoors and outdoors. Installation is via plug and play, and the device will automatically search for the fastest network to connect to:
- USB-lte 7410 is enabled for multi-mode USB, FDD-LTE and HSPA
- USB-lte 7610 – multi-mode USB, TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, HSPA and WiFi
Our battery-powered mobile hotspot routers create a WiFi hotspot virtually anywhere and support up to ten WiFi connections:
- MHR-lte 7410 supporting FDD-LTE, HSPA+ and WiFi
- MHR-lte 7508 for TD-LTE and TD-SCDMA
Nokia Siemens Networks CPE devices are our plug-and-play outdoor modems, which provide wireless broadband data:
CPEo-lte 7220 – this small CPE supports TD-LTE
The USB devices and our new mobile hotspots expand Nokia Siemens Networks’ portfolio of single mode devices as these products offer additional 3G and GSM band class options as well as Wi-Fi. We have 52 commercial LTE (FDD LTE and TD-LTE) engagements with operators around the world. Part of the decision for Nokia Siemens Networks is our continuously expanding device portfolio, offering performance, control, convenience, reliability and innovation. And just to prove our point: Our CPEi-lte 7212 is the fastest growing TD-LTE data device on the market.
