Innovation is always top of mind at NSN. It’s about thinking differently to solve our customers’ challenges. So, it was particularly exciting when NSN was recently recognized for its Liquid Applications innovation by winning the Tech Titans Corporate Innovation award, presented by the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC).
The Tech Titans awards showcase “the innovators, adopters and executors” in North Texas technology that are transforming the high-tech industry with contributions to their industries. The Corporate Innovation award recognizes outstanding innovation and unique accomplishments through recent or potential breakthrough technologies or approaches. With Liquid Applications, which was launched in February, NSN is revolutionizing the role of the base station in the mobile network by turning it into an intelligent part of an operator’s network to serve and deliver local content. This way, any type of content and data can be stored in close proximity to the mobile subscriber, giving them a faster and more personalized experience. For the mobile operator, it prepares them for the content-heavy, performance-oriented service models that will be critical in the future.
Museums come to life at your fingertips
Consider for example how Liquid Applications could enrich various public services, such as all the great museums and zoos in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. When using a smartphone or tablet at one of these venues, you could download their augmented reality app, which would provide multimedia content related to that venue and exhibits. Because all content would be stored locally in the base station serving that venue, downloads can be faster while not overloading the operator’s transport network.
Rick Corker, NSN’s Executive Vice President / President of North America, accepted the Tech Titans award, highlighting our strong commitment to North Texas and to the Dallas area in particular, which is home to our North America headquarters. “This commitment extends to North America, which continues to be a priority market for NSN and one of its fast-growing regions. We have a large R&D presence both regionally and locally, and we’re proud to contribute to the vibrancy and success of the North Texas area.”
