Busan Fireworks Festival in Korea
For me, a good celebration is not complete without a good fireworks display. Whether it’s a friend’s wedding or New Year in a major world city, fireworks make the party.
There was certainly plenty to celebrate at the 9th Busan fireworks festival in Korea, where the Networks business of Nokia helped local operators provide excellent service to their users.
You can experience the project highlights in this new video, where Karsten Isenbeck, responsible for delivering Networks projects in Korea, reveals how Nokia planned VoLTE coverage in minute detail to ensure everything went off with a bang, literally!
The event put the network to the ultimate test when over a million people started filming, calling and chatting simultaneously in what is geographically a very small area. The operators involved tested the Nokia VoLTE-based radio network intensively over four hours, with the pay-off being the highest average VoLTE call set up and call success rate. Despite three times the traffic load compared with the previous year, latency rates were stable – while download speeds of 10+ Mbps enabled everyone to enjoy the event without worrying about connection speed.
Thanks to robust products, excellent services, sound project management, and network optimization, these fireworks will continue to burn bright.
Delivering the world’s largest LTE IMS
Meanwhile, in the US, there was also cause for celebration when Nokia delivered the world’s largest LTE IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) solution in a multivendor network.
One of the secrets to success for this project was maintaining an open environment, where our customer could come and watch us develop the network and see the testing cycles. In this way, it could be sure it was getting what it wanted and could give input early on. Watch our experts Brian, John and Tereza detailing the project execution.
Advanced capacity planning was key to ensuring that the operator has enough capacity on the ground even before it needs it, that network stability is intact, and that there is plenty of capacity to roll out new services. Below, watch Robert detailing how we combined our services expertise to deliver as per customer requirements.
Altogether two great performances that had everyone celebrating.
