The telco cloud promises much. Industry expectations are high. It’s therefore critical that implementations work properly from the outset and deliver the performance anticipated.
So, as a further step to strengthen our global telco cloud partner ecosystem, we’ve introduced a partner certification program that will certify third-party software components running on industry-leading virtualization platforms in combination with Nokia Networks’ own portfolio of virtual network functions. Under the scheme, the Nokia Networks certification lab in Munich, Germany, performs the necessary interoperability tests and is expected to issue the first certificates in October 2014.
Operators will benefit by getting smoothly running end-to-end solutions that comply with the ETSI network functions virtualization reference architecture and meet the highest quality and security standards.
In the scope of its partnering strategy, Nokia Networks will be working with new and existing partners in various ways. As part of our ‘Extend’ approach, we’re adding best-in-class partner products and services to our portfolio to provide more complete solutions to operators, without compromising on quality requirements. Certifying partners who work with us will create solutions that are tested, functional and supported.
The comprehensive testing of components under the new partner certification program will ensure flawless operations of either individual network functions like signaling gateways or fully integrated end-to-end services such as Voice over LTE (VoLTE) with a rich communications suite or IP-Centrex services. Such services complement Nokia’s IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), Telephony Application Server (TAS), Home Subscriber Server (HSS), Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and Mobile Softswitch (MSS), as well as the respective application management.
