What do you picture when you think of a hotspot? Presumably, lots of people with high-end smartphones in hand, actively sending and receiving huge amounts of data?
And where better to find such a hotspot than a mobile phone shop? Finnish operator, Elisa, recently set up such a high-profile hotspot at its flagship Elisa Studio store in Helsinki. Not just your everyday mobile store, the facility is a high-tech hangout for customers to test high-speed services.
As a trial, Elisa installed Nokia Networks’ award-winning Flexi Zone solution at the Studio and was impressed, as the solution is great for hotspots and improving indoor coverage in general. Jarno Niemelä, Service Manager at Elisa comments:
“The results achieved during the trial prove that Nokia Flexi Zone brings high-quality mobile broadband to indoor premises for a better experience, making it the ideal solution to address the needs and wants of our customers.”
In fact, Flexi Zone has enjoyed significant industry attention because it’s the only small cell solution on the market to offer macro parity. In other words, Nokia’s range of micro and pico cells offers the same features, capacity and performance of macro base stations. By using the same software as the macro base stations, it lowers overall costs by 30% compared to traditional small cells.
The trials were supported by Nokia Networks’ Services for HetNets which ensures that operators make the most of their macro and small cells through analysis, optimization, deployment, and management of their networks.
As a leading operator, Elisa knows the benefit of putting the latest technology in the hands of its users.
