Most people would agree that services are the frontline, the place where operator and customer meet and where the user decides to stick with it – or not. Services are at the heart of operators’ relationships with their subscribers, and it is important to get them right – the right services, at the right time. Users also want tailored services to reflect their needs, rather than “one size fits all”.
The central role that services play is the driver for our latest addition to cloud wise services, the cloud service orchestration solution. Based on Comptel’s service orchestration software, it is a prime example of how Nokia Networks is extending its portfolio with partner products and components to meet specific operator needs.
Our service orchestration solution enables operators to seamlessly launch new services across virtualized and non-virtualized telco and service clouds. It also allows them to automatically configure, optimize and repair the deployed services.
Put simply: Cloud service orchestration gets services to users faster. It combines the expertise of Comptel and Nokia Networks to create capabilities that few, if any, other telco vendors can offer.
In technical terms, this is all about automation of the service lifecycle processes. Service orchestration addresses the service layer to automate key elements of the introduction and modification of services. It drives the changes through all layers, from the network layer that runs on the telco cloud, to the non-virtualized telco infrastructure and eventually the IT service layer.
Cloud service orchestration complements Nokia Cloud Network Director, which focuses on orchestrating the network resources for telco cloud. Together, these two elements form a complete Operations Support System (OSS) tailored for the telco cloud and enable us to deliver end-to-end cloud orchestration.
The telco cloud is moving towards greater expansion and ubiquitous use, and service orchestration will certainly make offering services for the cloud that much easier.
