This great photo by Michael Heiss attempts to visualize the management of complexity.
For network operators, attempting to manage multiple network components and systems, integrate new services, while expanding capacity, can be a distracting task. Increasingly our customers are turning to us to provide this expertise. We’re good at it; with this deal we now manage networks globally with more than 220m subscribers. That’s quite some responsibility.
Adding to that tally, we’ve just announced that we’re taking over mobile network management for Orange in the UK and Spain. When you add in our support for Orange broadband in Spain, in total we’ll be supporting 28.2 million Orange subscribers.
Network outsourcing is an increasing trend. Operators look for a reliable partner, with multi-vendor expertise, that can transparently manage their network, leaving them to focus on selling and providing services that attract customers and keep them happy. It’s a combined responsibility to ensure that the customer experience for subscribers keeps them loyal. As we all know, it’s not something that is always perfect.
Under the contracts announced today, Nokia Siemens Networks will manage, plan, expand, optimize and provide Care services for the Orange UK and Orange Spain 2G/3G mobile networks and the Orange Spain fixed broadband (ADSL) network for the next five years.
The deal aims to deliver improved quality of service and enhanced coverage for 15.7 million Orange mobile subscribers in the UK and 11.3 million mobile subscribers and 1.2 million broadband Internet (ADSL) subscribers in Spain, while driving operational efficiencies for Orange UK and Orange Spain.
