Today’s Internet-centric lifestyle demands huge volumes of bandwidth because people want to be connected anywhere and anytime. So, it’s no wonder that operators have to deal not only with higher data traffic volumes, but also with unpredictable traffic patterns. The move to 100G provides a big part of the answer.
XO Communications is making that move, which will allow it to efficiently manage the increasingly higher loads of data traffic across its network from the video streaming, mobile data and enterprise applications that its customers and their end-users rely upon.
While others have deployed 100G technology across a portion of their networks, XO is the first service provider in the industry to deploy 100G optical technology across its coast-to-coast U.S. network. Using Nokia Siemens Networks’ 100G optical system, based on the hiT7300 DWDM platform, XO will now be able to reliably transport more than 10 times the amount of network traffic carried on a standard route using previous generation optical systems.
XO’s customers will benefit from lower latency data connections. And, XO will not only meet the increased traffic burden, but they will also lower their operating expense and maximize their asset investment at the same time.
Within 12 to 24 months, the 100G client interface will become the norm as operator customers will demand an interface carried on a 100G optical network.
